Check out this quote from a new MEC Resolution issued on November 14, 2004 by the Association of Flight Attendants:

“BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that based upon the distinct possibility that United management will engage in one or all of the actions described above, the United Master Executive Council will immediately begin all necessary preparations, including issuing a CHAOS™ strike ballot to the Membership.”

This is based in part on the MEC's belief that United management  "will remain fixed upon a strategy of overreaching, will not negotiate in good faith and will seek judicial intervention to achieve its unnecessary, unfair and inequitable goals." and also that United management is "intent on exploiting the 1113(c) process".
