Changes to Passenger Manifest

Source: Various Reports

Date: Nov 17, 2004

The old workhorse passenger manifest is about to get a small upgrade with six new changes.

In addition to the information that currently appears on the passenger manifest, it will now includes the following changes:

  1. United Express (UAX) connecting gates.
  2. Complete city names, up to 28 characters. This helps with infrequently seen city codes.
  3. City and airport name when a city/metro area is served by multiple airports (e.g., Washington-Dulles).
  4. Multiple city names when the airport serves more than one city (e.g., MBS - Midland, Bay City, Saginaw).
  5. State name if United or UAX serves more than one city with the same name (e.g., Portland, Maine/Oregon).
  6. The country name for all international destinations.

Remember that manifest connecting information is only current at departure time, so you'll (pursers) will still need to request gate connection changes from the cockpit via ACARS prior to descent.

About ACARS

The ACARS printout will only list the flight number, airport code and new gate for connections that have changed since the manifest was printed. It will not print the complete city name because there is 'a charge for each character transmitted via ACARS'.
