Bibles and Cups to Be Removed

I'm not the most religious person around, but something did make me pause for a murmured sigh when I heard that United is removing the remaining bibles from the aircraft.

Check out this quote from the Sept Purser Packet, under 'Discontinued Cabin Provisioning Items':

With inventory levels of bibles nearly depleted, remaining bibles are being removed from airplanes (during overnight cleans).  Along with those removed from storerooms, they are all being donated to a local charity.

So far as I know, the bibles have been onboard for years, sandwiched between the magazines.  Even the dumpiest flight attendant layover hotel has at least one copy lying around somewere; usually in the table drawer under the cheap alarm clock programmed to blare out at 4:17 AM.

Charity or not, something seems odd to me about removing a bible from an aircraft.  Yet, honestly, I can't remember a single passenger that ever even once asked to please bring him/her the onboard bible.  Nevertheless...

It would be interesting to know United's yearly cost savings of no longer stocking bibles onboard the planes.

Sam With DewBy the way, they are also removing those little 3 ounce paper water cups as well.

Bibles and cups -- no longer provisioned.  But we still have the MOUNTAIN DEW!

Say!

I will drink it on a plane!
I will drink it on a train!
Would I, could I, Sam-I-Am!
