Here's the info on the Door Status Call test procedures that are currently in place for A319, A320 and B767 airplanes, and expanded to the B777 and B747 airplanes on March 1.

Departure

As the jetway, airstairs or mobile lounge begins to move away from the airplane...

  1. Purser to announce, "Flight attendant arm doors for departure and
prepare for the door status call."
  2. The Purser then arms his or her door(s) and initiates the door status call via the cabin interphone.  The purser states, "This is the purser. Door 1L (and 1R if appropriate) is armed."
  3. The Purser then confirms with flight attendants at all doors that their
    doors are armed.

Arrival

On arrival, as the jetway, airstairs, or mobile lounge begins to move towards the airplane...

  1. The Purser will announce, "Flight attendants disarm doors for arrival and prepare for the door status call."
  2. The Purser will turn on entry/threshold lights and disarm his or her door(s).
  3. The Purser initiates the door status call via the cabin interphone and states, "This is the purser, door 1L (and 1R if appropriate) is disarmed."
  4. The Purser then confirms with flight attendants at all doors that their doors have been disarmed.

According to United:

Test procedures will continue until March 31, at which time we will evaluate feedback and determine whether to implement this process on all airplanes.
