New Safety Cards

Source: Archived Content

Date: Jun 18, 2002

Starting now, while the planes are being serviced overnight, United will be busy installing new Safety cards in the seat back pockets.  These new cards will be dated May 2002.

Among the changes to the Safety Cards are expanded Exit Row information, a graphic showing life vests not inflated until after exiting the aircraft, an illustration of rolling a window exit onto a seat, and even an drawing of someone assessing outside conditions before opening the exit door.

What is still lacking, and what should be immediately placarded on the overhead bins is the following message:

NOTICE: Due to company safety requirements, Flight Attendants do not assist in lifting or stowing carry-on luggage over 30 pounds.

You only have to look as far as a car rental company pickup buses to see signs like those in place to protect their drivers.
