According to an announcement made today by the Association of Flight Attendants, United Airlines must pay $8,890,000.00 to flight attendants who were active from January 27, 1992 to December 31, 1993.

It appears that the System Board found that United had in fact violated the March 14, 1986 Scope Side Letter in its operation of Air Wisconsin commercial flights from January 27, 1992 to December 31, 1993.

In AFA's announcement, the Union stated, "The monies shall be distributed to flight attendants who were active. For the purpose of this award, active is defined as any flight attendant who received flight and credit time pay, sick leave pay, occupational pay, vacation pay, or AFA flight pay loss for each month or portion thereof during 1992 and 1993.
It is anticipated that the distribution process can be completed within 120 days."

I wasn't flying back then so I'll miss my payout in this case.  But nevertheless, hopefully this System Board decision has reiterated that Scope is more than green mouthwash.
