Allyn Stillman, SFOSW, a language teacher for 30 years before joining United Airlines, points out to us a new and creative use of the English language by the United Airlines company newspaper Our Times:
"From a systems perspective, we need to partner with the user community, to understand their business processes. Understanding processes correctly is key, partnering is key. The 'users' are the departments within United. The automation solution should match what they do, what they need. The more successful projects are the ones where we actually go out and observe. You see what a CSR is doing, what a caterer needs. What are they doing? How do they use the system? It's truly a partnership. Partnering to deliver quality systems provides one of many tools for maintaining reliability." --- from Our Times, July 16, 2001 (p.3, col.1, P 4)
The word 'partner' has now become a verb! As in, "We can be partnering to work the queen cart for the dessert service."
Or try:
YOU AND YOU! STAY AT THE BOTTOM! |
A special thanks to Allyn for noticing this! I just about fell out of my chair laughing!
