Two U.S. Representatives: Louise Slaughter (D-NY) and Peter DeFazio (D-OR) introduced a new piece of legislation last Tuesday into the U.S. House of Representatives that would would propose a one-year hiatus on airline mergers and would enable Congress to conduce an independent study of this hot issue.

Goodwin, predictably, issued the following statement upon hearing the news of the proposed bill:
"The proposed acquisition of US Airways is the right deal at the right time," says Goodwin, "preserving jobs and giving customers the seamless, global access they need on a finished network.
Global access they need on a finished network? The man sounds more and more like Bill Gates all the time!
