New Uniform/Handbook Projects on Hold

Remember those new 'task teams' that were supposed to redesign the flight attendant uniforms and the Inflight Handbook?  Well, those projects have been postponed...for now.

United has cited budget cuts as the reason for the postponement.  However, they mention that they will still "look at new ways to refresh the current uniform and will continue to condense Handbook material through monthly revisions."

Budget cuts or not, this is actually a blessing in disguise.  Why?  Because if it ain't broken, don't fix it!  Our uniforms are just fine as they are right now.  Sure, a few modifications here and there, but we sure as heck don't need an entire overhaul.  Ditto for the Inflight Handbook...even though it's getting almost as heavy as that woman who had to purchase two airline seats Southwest.  No need to spend more money, organize more task teams, hold more meetings at WHQ, solicit more F/A input, and lug around more stuff to display at costly roadshows when there are other, far more important projects that require immediate attention and resources.

So kudos to whoever placed these two projects on hold.  We've always advocated eliminating the 'New' F/A uniform project and the Inflight Handbook redesign project as that money could be far better spent in implementing a workable internal computer system that can efficiently handle F/A schedules and operations.  Or improving FLTLINE.  Or improving communication.  Or...or...or...  You get the idea!
