CQ and Reserve Months

Source: Media Article

Date: Nov 13, 2013 at 5:08 PM Pacific Time

UPDATE: November 15, 2013

We ran a piece earlier this week in Dear AFA on Tuesday and E-Lines on Wednesday, that was incorrect and would like to clear up any confusion.

If your Continuing Qualification (CQ) "early" (may go) month is during a Reserve month, you may advise the company that you would not wish to be assigned CQ in your "early" month.  To advise the company, use DIS*884 in Unimatic once primary lines are awarded for the following month and before CQ bidding for Lineholders closes.  This date can be found in your Domicile monthly Bid Packet Cover letter.  Any requests received after that date will not be honored.

Reserves in their "early" month may be assigned for any date after the 15th of the month.  Reserves in their "must go" or "due" month will be assigned at any time during those months.

As a further clarification, Lineholders bidding to go to training in their "early" month will not be awarded a training date before the 4th day of the calendar month.  CQ pre-work is accessible on the first calendar day of your early month and in order to provide enough time for completion Lineholders cannot be scheduled on the first three days of their "early" month.   As a reminder, pre-work needs to be completed 48 hours before the training date.

If your Continuing Qualification (CQ) “early” (may go) month is a Reserve month, you can request that you not be assigned in that month.

Notify the company that you do not want to be assigned in your “early” Reserve month by using DIS*884 in Unimatic before the primary bid award closes at 0800 local domicile time on the 18th of each month.

If you chose to allow yourself to potentially be assigned in your early/may go month, you should know that you will not be assigned prior to the 14th of that month to allow time for you to complete all necessary pre-work
