This week the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) implemented new security directives regarding security screening.

Flight Attendants who are not on a flight assignment and plan to travel, no matter what your status of travel (i.e. positive-space, space-available or revenue), must enter the sterile area via a TSA checkpoint (including Known Crewmember) and must remain in the sterile area of the airport with your carry-on luggage prior to boarding the aircraft for travel. If you (non-working crewmember) leave the sterile area you must re-enter through a TSA checkpoint (including Known Crewmember) with your carry-on luggage prior to boarding the aircraft for travel.

This does not apply to crewmembers working a flight or deadheading as part of a flight assignment.

For specific details related to these new requirements please view United’s Inflight Services Safety Alert posted on July 24, 2015. If you have questions please contact your local domicile supervisor or file an IOR.
